About
This is an offering to start the new year with a 2-day retreat (2/3 January) on the theme of Tonglen - a meditation practice of giving and receiving. It will also include some improvisation and dance, so we will give the new year a proper welcome!
We never know what the next year will bring - and we do not know what the next day or even hour might bring! This has become ever clearer for us, as we probably have had to cancel plans we have made repeatedly these last 2 years ...
It has been challenging for many of us, but also maybe an opportunity to be present in the NOW, the HERE, and THIS PLACE. How can we practice openness and stillness while being open to pain and sorrow around us? How can we be fully present here and experience that we are a part of the world?
The core of this retreat will be the practice of Tonglen - giving and receiving. We are 'changing gear, moving on from excluding whatever does not fit our identity, from being narrow, limited and defended. Releasing ourselves from identifications around thoughts ... we relax into the infinite intrinsic uncreated mind. ...With this practice we are putting the other first ... we recognise that our ordinary self is an illusion, a construct we can let dissolve without loss.' (James Low)
Please register ahead for this retreat here. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
This retreat is open to all and does not need previous experience in movement or meditation. It is possible to come for a single day, but the programme builds over the whole of the event. It is free of charge, but donations are very welcome and needed. You can donate here: playofnow-donation
In the two-day retreat we will engage in movement and meditation, bringing us together across great distances and let us arrive more fully here, in this new year.
The schedule for the 2 days is (UK time):
- Sunday 2 Jan '22 10.00 - 12.00; 15.00 - 17.00; 19.30 - 20.30
- Monday 3 Jan '22: 10.00 - 12.00; 15.00 - 17.00; 18.30 - 20.30 (which is also the first Monday of the month session)
If you have any other questions, please write to me here - I will be in touch.
I look forward to exploring more in your company!
