About

Agitation due to circumstances occurs when because of an external incident, you follow a thought, and your mind becomes agitated and scatters into a disturbing emotion. When that happens, keep the attitude of “There is no need to do anything!”. (Padmasambhava)

We live in very unsettled times - there are many disturbances in the world, politically, in the society and ecologically. While we might be a bit shielded from it all, here in Europe - for now - it is never too early to train ourselves in skills that will help us to be present, with eyes and heart open, whatever difficulties we encounter.

With Padmasambhava, or Guru Rimpoche (precious guru), as he is called, we have access to a teacher who is well versed in meeting demons of all kinds. Together we will try and open ourselves to his wisdom and practice.

When you hear pleasant or unpleasant words, understand them to be an empty resounding, like an echo. When you encounter severe misfortune and misery, understand it to be a temporary occurrence, a deluded experience. Recognise that the innate nature is never apart from you... (Padmasambhava)

These times call for a deeper understanding how self and others are not separate - we can find and live from alive connectedness and engage in transformational learning, involving our whole being, body, heart and imagination. Using improvisation and reflection, we explore a way of practicing that does not withdraw from the world, but allows us to be alive in the midst of sorrow and joy. We can find ways to participate and offer ourselves.

This workshop will bring embodiment to the practice of meditation and allow for our presence in full vitality and joyful exploration. We will explore being rooted in ourselves, while listening and opening to others and the world.

This event is open to all - please book directly with the Shrewsbury Buddhist Centre.

We will meet from 1.30/6.30pm on the Saturday and 10.30am to 4.30pm on Sunday. Please give a donation to support this event - for the centre and the teaching - suggested are between £60 - 90. Please get in touch with any questions by writing here
